How and why did it occur to me to spend the early hours of the Easter on the roof of the hut? I don't know. But the idea was good. I felt awfully cold and never batted an eyelid sitting on several bricks and a couple of small planks. But nothing prevented me from being transported to a far land to those who were darling for me. And I have beheld the sunrise. Here the Ob' turns west and an island divides it in two. And huge Easter sun orange like fire emerged from melted gold of the Ob'. I turned to the West where everything I loved was. The West was still submerged in lilac haze. Novosibirsk gleamed with thousands of windows reflecting the sun. They flashed and faded. The sun disengaged from the Ob' and became round and extremely bright!
"Christ is Risen!" I said aloud and added to myself, "May God arise, may his enemies be scattered!" I got easy in my mind and said to myself, "Never say die, the sun will rise!"
