Norilsk greatly changed in 1954 and 1955. We see the changes in the mine too. Convicts were released in batches. Some were carried somewhere. Then, «enthusiasts» - young communists from Leningrad - began arriving. Then, mine № 12 West was closed and a stream of bosses and nutcases flooded our mine. There was lack of drillers, the newcomers had no skills and did not want to take up the hard work, and the bosses want to be bosses. Certainly my job of a foreman was given to an ignorant and stupid «boss». Thus I took up the hardest work all of them were afraid of. I am a driller.
