In 1956-1957, Norilsk prison camps were mainly closed and kennels serving there were shoved in enterprises. Some of those bastards found themselves at our mine. I got as a carrier of ammonite one of guard officers who specialised in shakedowns. Yes! It was not easy for him to carry 40 kilos of ammonite.
"You are taking vengeance on me, Kersnovskaya!" he whimpered.
"Take vengeance on you? Too great an honour! It is just high time for you to get accustomed to honest labor. You cannot always be on duty looking under women's skirts," I used to answer.
But no! People like him never seek honest work. He ran away from the mine quite soon.
