It's difficult to find a wick capable of carrying a sack of flour for several kilometres. I was among heroes who volunteered. What is more, I made a drag harrow and pulled my sack by myself while the others carried theirs in fours. The guard actually allowed each of us to eat a handful of raw flour. It inspired us with new life but what mulligrubs were the pay for the happy eating of flour!
